SEPTEMBER 2009 - Bar do Copa
With a total area of 250m² and stylish decoration by the South African architect Graham Viney, Bar do Copa promises to change Rio’s nightlife. The decoration brings a mix of modern details, such as the golden floor that leads you from the entrance to the dance floor, and gold mosaic that ornament the walls of the bar. The roof is inspired on Rio de Janeiro sky at night, as its lighting, with 10 thousand points of fiber optic, reproduces the astronomical map of the city. Sputnik lamps, crystal chandeliers and European fabrics complement the ambience.

Located by the pool and the Pérgula Restaurant, with an independent entrance, Bar do Copa will have a special menu of exclusive drinks, all prepared with premium ingredients. Among the 22 items from the list, martinis, shots, vintage cocktails, frozen cocktails and signature drinks. These are the highlights of the menu, with drinks like the Copa, leading premium vodka, limoncello and caviar, and Negresco, with black tea with vodka, Sambuca opal nera and flakes of gold.

Prepared by the executive chef, Francesco Carli, the menu has about 20 options of finger food, appetizers that are especially prepared to eat with your hands or with small silverware.

The stylish decoration and exclusive menus join with live music and complete the atmosphere. On Wednesdays and Thursdays, there will be presentations of a band founded exclusively for the bar scene. The Copa Jam Band is formed by the musicians Widor Santiago (sax and flutes), Tommaso March (piano, keyboards and Fender Rhodes), Alberto Continentino (electric and acoustic bass) and Renato "Massa" Calmon (drums and percussion) and will always play classic and new standards of Brazilian music also with a mix of international jazz and pop. On the other days, a team of DJs brighten the dance floor.
